Captains Log

The JOG season came to an end for 2008 with the Clubs AGM and Prizegiving Dinner Dance on 22nd November.

I am pleased to report that 2008 was not only a sailing success for JOG but a financial one too! The Club continues to be popular with Corinthian racers and I have to conclude that we seem to have our formula of events "just right", particularly with the addition of the Illingworth Challenge.

This years AGM was the last official function for our President, Richard Hawkes, Vice Captain, Nick Barlow and Committee members Andy Phelps and Steve Blake. All four have worked untiringly for JOG and I thank them for their contribution to the continued success of JOG.

Similarly, it is my pleasure to welcome to the Committee the new Committee Members voted in at the AGM; Jonathan Rolls takes over from Richard as President of the Club, Teresa Whelan Vice Captain and two new Committee members Ed Holton and Nigel Goodhew .

The Prize Giving Dinner at the De Vere was fantastic. The success of the event was down to Jo Chugg and her helpers. Thank you for all your hard work and the sleepless nights - it was definitely worth it! The collection for the RNLI raised a generous £1360.

Thank you all for contributing and here's to a good season in 2009.
