Jog Week 2011

The Royal Cornwall Yacht Club will be hosting JOG week between 24th and 29th July 2011 at their beautiful clubhouse right on Falmouth Harbour.  The RCYC has plenty of experience of running all sorts of prestigious sailing events, including the renowned Azores and Back Race.

The Committee has selected this venue because of its excellent facilities and its access to a wonderful cruising ground for those who do not wish to rush back to compete in Cowes Week.

Ashore, Falmouth offers many attractions including:

Plenty of accommodation; easy access by road or train; many fascinating places to visit including the Eden Project, Heligan and other gardens; the National Maritime Museum Cornwall; Falmouth Coastguard; the Lizard; cycling (there is a path across to the north of Cornwall); and activities such as kayaking, tennis, beaches, fishing, boat trips, etc.

Berthing is available at Pendennis Marina, at the Harbour Master’s Visitors’ Marina, on the 60 visitors’ moorings or at anchor.  Some of the moorings are quite close to the RCYC, but the club’s washing facilities are limited.  There is a launch service to the Club, and room to store dinghies ashore.  In the Pendennis Marina it is likely that an entire pontoon could be reserved for JOG.  Reservations at the HM’s Visitors’ Marina are not taken, but apparently boats are seldom turned away.

For practical reasons entries will be limited to 50 boats, so register your intention to enter by contacting the JOG secretary.
